Outdoor Activities

Rock Creek Trail

The Rock Creek Trail offers miles of beautiful walking and biking trails which goes all the way from Rockville to border of Washington D.C. Although the trail and area is for the most part urbanized, the trail does follow a mostly wooded and shaded route along the Rock Creek stream. Due to this the route provides a nice ride or walk that is traffic free.  Choices abound: you can be as adventurous as you want by exploring the hiking trails or simply take a picnic lunch and binoculars for some great bird-watching. If you’re interested in venturing out of the area there are many activities available just over the border in DC such as the lovely National Zoo, which the entire family will enjoy.

Croydon Creek Nature Center

The Croydon Creek Nature Center is located close to downtown Rockville. With 120 acres of meadows, forest preserves and a winding creek, the Center is a hub of activity, offering guided explorations of the forest, special programs, docent-guided tours and interpretive exhibits. Kids will love the hands-on nature center and adults will enjoy both the beauty of the center and the information on display.

Indoor Activities

Glenview Mansion

Glenview Mansion was built in 1926 and sits nestled in the 153 acre Rockville Civic Center park. Featuring art gallery, formal gardens to wander in and monthly concerts on Sunday afternoons, it is a great place just to visit or to plan an event. Glenview Mansion is a well-known and lovely spot for weddings, conferences and private events, but is equally inviting as a place for a simple visit.
